In 1988-92 she did research for her PhD in the Sekhukhune and Nebo districts of the same homeland and in Johannesburg, among the men and women performers of the Kiba song/dance genre. From 1996-2003 her fieldwork on the concept of rights and property in South Africa's Land reform program was conducted in Mpumalanga and Limpopo Provinces. These photographs were taken by Santu Mofokeng and Professor James during fieldwork in South Africa between 1983 and 2003. |
