Admin Biographical History | Sheba Feminist Publishers (1980-1994)was launched as a small, independent, racially-mixed not-for-profit workers' publishing co-operative in 1980 by group of seven women involved in the women's liberation movement. Its aims were to provide a place where writing by black, working class, lesbian and new writers of diverse backgrounds could bring their work for publication. Its scope covered fiction and non-fiction, as well as poetry and children's books and published authors such as Sarah Schulman, Sue O'Sullivan and Jewelle Gomez. In an increasingly competitive market, it ceased trading in 1994. |
