Extent2 volumes
DescriptionIn 1917, Sir Ratan Tata offered to donate 1 400 pounds a year for five years to the University of London to finance the Ratan Tata Department of Social Science and Administration at the LSE. This Department included the existing Social Science Dept. at LSE. A committee to administer the fund, appointed by the LSE and the University of London, was formed in 1917. The Committee was required to report to the LSE governors and the University Senate on the work of the Dept. In 1921 the Ratan Tata Trust decided to fund the Dept. for another five years but for research only. The Department reverted to its original name in 1922.
