DescriptionCorrespondence files on the publication or proposed publication of scholarly works that the Society financed, or was asked to finance, or subsidise. The publications include RES editions of classic works and economists papers (such as the 'Works and Correspondence of David Ricardo'), RES Conference volumes, surveys of economic theory and applied economics, and other books that the RES published or sponsored in some way.
Subjects vary but include initial proposals, the writing or editing of the book, royalties, reprints, stocks, translations, prices, reviews and copies of some publishing agreements. Correspondent include Cambridge University Press and Macmillan Publishing. Most of the files were kept by either Austin Robinson (before 1970) or Donald Winch (1970 onwards).
Some sensitive files in this section are closed until they are 20 years old.
