TitleMembership, staff and officeholders
Ref NoRES/4
DescriptionMaterial relating to membership of the British Economic Association (to 1903) and the RES thereafter. Material on RES personnel, including paid staff and elected officeholders.
There are registers of BEA members and RES 'Fellows' (i.e. members) 1891-1968 (incomplete). Other early material (1890-1929) includes printed lists, signatures of members and discussion as to membership policy. The rest of the material dates from 1955 onwards on various membership, staffing and officeholder matters, including membership subscriptions levels, membership administration, stipends, and lists of past presidents and other officeholders. A number of files containing information on RES appointments are closed for 50 years.
The RES membership registers were among the first RES archives to be deposited at BLPES Archives, in 1979 by the then Secretary-General, Aubrey Silberston. The early records were part of the Early Records of the RES deposit in 1985.
