TitleEconomic Journal: editorial and policy
Ref NoRES/5
DescriptionMaterial relating to editorial and policy matters at the Economic Journal.
The printed indexes to the Economic Journal date from 1891 but the rest of these files date mostly from the 1960s onwards. They include files kept by various Secretaries/Secretaries-General and Economic Journal editors on Economic Journal matters. Other files relate to the roles of different editors, minutes of meetings of the Editorial Advisory Board, Economic Journal Editor's reports to Council, complaints and controversies, proposals for new journals, copyright and procedures. A number of files containing correspondence with contributors to the Economic Journal are closed for 30 years. A few files containing information on RES appointments are closed for 50 years.
Related material:
There is some early material (c1890-1900) on the Economic Journal in Section 1 (The Genesis of the Society), as the foundation of the RES was inextricably bound up with the publication of an economic journal in Britain. Other correspondence files can be found in section 8, which includes some material on the Economic Journal as well as on publications.
System of arrangement:
References beginning 5/1 are indexes to the Economic Journal and correspondence on indexes. 5/2 are general editorial and policy correspondence files. 5/3 relate to book reviews. 5/4 are files on Economic Journal articles (out of the main sequence, for which see section 6).
